Changing Focus And Changing Pace

I expected to have a better overall average time given my training plan had me doing high intensity sprints. It’s OK though as my times were faster than my plan actually called for. The 2nd half of my run was really a little bit of a wake up call on where my focus has been lately. Life has been more about me lately and I’ve been missing, or straight up ignoring the needs of people around me.

I may be a bit hard on myself but I’m one that always feels called to do better and not let myself just coast through life. Christ is the model of how even though we may be working on our personal calling our focus needs to be on others.

Getting In Some Miles Early On A Wet Wednesday

As I was running in the rain this morning it got me thinking about the hardship that the rainy season causes for many in Sierra Leone. Like those that work for Enable The Children, the children with disabilities ministry, and those that #ETC supports. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun It’s crazy to think that something like rain,…

10 More Miles And 2 Years Ago

It was great weather for a 10 miles run this morning. As I finished things up I was reminded that just 2 years ago I was blessed to be hanging out with a bunch of children in Sierra Leone. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon #RiverBankRun I had hoped to return there last year but things didn’t…

    Warming Up With The Pace

When you are a runner the colder winter temperatures are either a motivator or a demotivator. You are either going to be motivated to keep going, and keep warm, or you are going to be demotivated to not even step out the door. For me, most days my decision to run has little to so…

Tackling A Rainy And Intense Fitness Level Run

Despite it being a rainy morning it still felt good to be out for a run. After the 2017 #GRMarathon downpour, and consistent winter training, I’m pretty much good to run in anything. If you are going to run a race outside you have to train in everything if you want to be prepared. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun

Reflecting On How Far I’ve Come

When I look back to 2016 at this time I’m pretty amazed at how far I’ve come. At that time I was lucky to probably have gone 1 mile in around 30 minutes, and that was probably mostly walking. Comparing that to my run today I can honestly say that God used running to make…

I Am Blessed To Be Able To Run

Short easy 5 mile training run this morning. My focus this morning was on the Jon Martinson family and the people of Sierra Leone. I can’t begin to know what it’s like to lose a spouse or parent at a young age. It’s hard to believe that a man I worked alongside for years, and…
